Feet!

Since I broke my foot, my foot obsession has been kicked up! I hate feet in person, but boy are they fun to paint! Here is a piece that was part of my final painting but I didn't end up showing it.

Doodles: Quick Oils-- Ears, Fingers, and Lips oh my!

These three paintings are in the style of my final painting from this past semester (which I'll post soon!). They are quick, and small oil paintings for both practice and fun. I really love how they have turned out.

Mouthing Off

The "Wrong" assignment went pretty well, I think. I ended up painting 17 pieces each a bit more abstract with each one.

Painted Photos

Considering how expensive RC paper is (for printing my photos) I feel the need to use or make the best of each of my prints. So, I've started experimenting with paint (who would have thunk eh?)!

Pentax Trials (Lots of Errors)

I'm using my mom's Pentax (that's been all over the world) for a photography class I'm taking next semester. I've been doing some tests while I've been home-- some have ended up quite nice and the others are pretty bad. These are the ones I really love!

Flagstaff is Disposable

In the most wonderful way of course. I bought a disposable camera and had a ton of fun for about 24 hours. I captured some cool moments. And, as always, my favorite models Bridget and Dylan lovingly obliged to my photography.

Something You Know: Final

I'm more proud of this than any other painting. I can paint skin (to toot my own horn). This beast is all hand made and it makes it an even bigger accomplishment.

Still Life in Watercolor

A few weekends ago I hosted a still life program at my residence hall with a few friends. It was so lovely buying the flowers and produce-- I had a hard time keeping on track because I kept getting carried away!

This is the final piece I painted. Watercolor is definitely my strong suit. I'm pretty sure I'll do my MFA portfolio in all watercolor.

I finished this sculpture a long time ago and now he and his friends live in my living room (they take up a lot of space). I finally got around to photographing them!

Copy Painting

I've been very delinquent with this bloggy. I'm oh so busy and my apartment has pretty bad lighting so I never seem to be taking decent photos of my paintings. BUT here is a nice (ish) photo of my copy painting. I like to think I'd make Georgia proud.

Final Paper Bag Painting

I'm done! This painting went through quite the transformation. But, I was a problem solving maniac...even if I don't like it. AND someone has offered to buy the painting!

Something Abstract

I was messing around with oil paint for the first time and just got inspired! The way the paint looked on packaging tape (an accidental brush with tape) really pushed me to do this. I never do abstract painting but I like how this one turned out.

Once Again, Another Watercolor Body

Once more, I painted a creepy-ish body. I love photographs of bodies that are contorted in some way. It creates the most lovely shadows that are captured perfectly by watercolor.

I'm still experimenting with different angles and paint types for these bodies. I like these because of how obscure and, perhaps, alien these are.

Body in Acrylic

This is my lastest installment of my bodies project (seen here, here and here). I took a ton of photos and used a live model for this painting (and hope to continue using live models from now on).

I love using the larger space for these paintings because the brushstrokes can really capture the ridges of muscle and the softness of skin. But using acrylic was far more difficult than lovely watercolor.

I moved out of my first New York apartment yesterday. It was bittersweet, to say the least. Although things were crazy in my actual apartment (and I don't think I'll miss that at all) this roof became my home. I gave this painting to my wonderful roommate so when she lives in L.A. she can always be reminded of such a lovely place.

Love Affair with Pastels

When I was drawing my Map of Manhattan I reignited my love for oil pastels! I decided to re-draw this piece in a new medium. I love the result. 

Finished Hands

Here is the finished piece from  a few weeks ago. I loved this process-- when painting hands there are so many places for shadows which I just adore painting.
