UPDATE: After posting this I was struck with inspiration. Obviously that would happen. Here is just a quick self-portrait in watercolor.
Going to the Met and the Whitney this weekend was helpful.
I don't understand contemporary art for the most part. It's bizarre and often times I have the oh so juvenile thought, "I could have done that!" But, this piece Sunflowers by Joan Mitchell is nearly perfect. There's movement (such a pretentious art word but totally valid) and life in this painting.
Painting portraits like this would be wonderful. I'll have to figure that out.
